about

This music was created on an electric guitar, electric bass, one effects pedal, some bits of preset beats on an Alesis SR-16, some percussion tracks created on FL Studio, mixed and mastered on n-Track. The only exception to this basic instrumentation is a harmonica on track 4. Tracks recorded February through March, 2013, with the exception of the tracks listed below. The older tracks have been remixed and/or remastered this year.

"Dirge Rigid Bull" was originally recorded as part of backing tracks for my son, Kushy Kallous, but wasn't used.
The voice sample on "Faultline" is a chant from a gathering to protest reactor restarts in Japan.

One of my musical ambitions is to come up with a few notes, rhythmically arranged, along the lines of the "Satisfaction" riff, or the opening of Beethoven's 5th - something inescapably true, always remembered. Even though this doesn't happen here, I hope you enjoy the many moods and overtones, undercurrents and echoes, the ghosts of the past inhabiting these notes today, and sound promises waiting in an always-uncertain future.

My Paisley Phase (Trance Mission) originated from a guitar track off an old cassette, recorded by Stan Stolarski, a friend from back East. My tracks added November, 2010. Very remixed and mastered March, 2013.

Was Something Else - October, 2010. Harmonica here, in addition to twanging.

Daisy Canoe - original tracks recorded leisurely April through June, 2011. For all of its "structure" this track, like almost all else here, began as an improvisation. I scratch my head.

Weavin - May, 2010. Played on my son's '85 Ibanez Roadstar.

Dying Young - August - September, 2012. Instrumental version. Song - with lyric written by Neil Leach - is also currently up on Bandcamp.
